Smoke Alarm

Category : Security , Tenancy

From the 1st October 2015, all rental properties will require at least one smoke alarm installed on every storey of their properties and a carbon monoxide alarm in any room containing a solid fuel burning appliance.

Do you have any fitted in your properties? If not, you are breaking the law. Do you know that your local authorities can impose a hefty fine of up to £5,000 where a landlord fails to comply with a remedial notice. Landlords should be aware that the regulations do not contain all the fire safety requirements which their properties may be subject to. There are fire safety requirements under other legislation which may be applicable, such as under Part 1 of the Housing Act 2004 and the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.

Not sure of how many smoke or fire alarm to fit? Below are several ones you could choose from. Read their ratings and reviews to help you to make a decision.
